Today the Toddler class read Duck and Goose by Tad Hills. When duck and goose discover an "egg", they decide that it is up to them to care for it until it hatches. While they are initially a bit competitive, they forge a friendship- duck teaches goose to quack, and goose teaches duck to honk. They also realize that this "egg" with the colorful polka dots may not be an egg at all.
The children enjoyed the story and spent time choosing books to borrow from the library. Please remember to send books back for next Tuesday.
If your child enjoyed Duck & Goose, he/she may be interested in reading Duck, Duck, Goose to see how the new friends continue to learn how to share and play together.
Last week there was a wonderful aroma coming from the school kitchen- the delicious smell of the Preschool's apple pie baking in the oven!
This week we read Applesauce Season, by Eden Ross Lipson. Who knew there were so many varieties of apples? Ida Red, MacIntosh, Ginger Gold, Winesap, Honey Crisp...each has its own distinct flavor. As one kind of apple disappears, another takes its place, and the applesauce that the narrator's family makes is different each week.
I wonder what kind of apples the Preschool class will use when they make their own applesauce this week...
